On 25 September, together with many long-standing companions and partners, we had the pleasure of expressing our gratitude to our founder and long-serving Managing Director, Prof. Dr. Ernst Pernicka, on the occasion of CEZA’s 20th anniversary. The celebratory event in Mannheim provided a wonderful opportunity to look back on two decades of successful work and development.
After 20 years at the helm of the institute, Ernst Pernicka has, at his own request, handed over his role as Scientific Managing Director. We are delighted that he will remain closely associated with CEZA and continue to support us in the future with his experience and advice.
This transition marks the beginning of a new chapter for CEZA: Dr. Ronny Friedrich, our long-standing Head of the Dating Laboratory, will assume overall scientific coordination of the institute, supported by a scientific leadership committee (Executive Board for Science). He knows CEZA like few others and, in addition to his outstanding expertise, brings a strong sense for the bigger picture as well as the calmness and leadership qualities required for this role.
Dr. Friedrich was the unanimous first choice of all those involved, and we are very pleased to continue CEZA’s path with him and to develop new perspectives together.
Alongside Dr. Friedrich, Sven Wiegand and Prof. Dr. Wilfried Rosendahl will continue to be part of the institute’s management team.
