Since September 2017, the Franco-German research project “CELTIC GOLD – Fine metal work in the Western La T\u00e8ne culture” has been dedicated to the archaeological and archaeometric study of Lat\u00e8ne gold objects with a focus on the area of the Western La T\u00e8ne culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus of this interdisciplinary programme is the investigation of production processes and consumption of gold objects with the aim of reevaluating the Western Lat\u00e8ne culture on the continent (mid 5th to 1st century BC). The project covers a wide geographical area (France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Channel Islands, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland) and encompasses a wide range of economic, social, technological and stylistic aspects. Two archaeometry laboratories are involved in the analytical approaches, namely the “Institut de Recherche sur les Arch\u00e9omat\u00e9riaux – Centre Ernest-Babelon” (IRAMAT-CEB Orl\u00e9ans, France) and the “Curt-Engelhorn-Zentrum Arch\u00e4ometrie” (CEZA Mannheim, Germany).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
